People & Culture Specialist

Mogo is currently looking for a People & Culture Specialist to join our team. This is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle human resources support to our team. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support and driving P&C functional excellence and process improvement.

Your role at Mogo:

  • Contribute to the development of the People & Culture roadmap and work closely with the Director and others to ensure alignment and prioritization of initiatives across the organization
  • Provide practical guidance and strategic support on day-to-day employee relations issues, recruitment, change management, organizational development, compensation, performance management and other related initiatives
  • Own project management and documentation for P&C-related initiatives
  • Act as the subject matter expert on compensation and regulatory requirements and use that knowledge in conjunction with industry best practices to ensure compliance and competitiveness across the organization
  • Proactively work with the broader management team on workforce planning and effective staffing strategies to select and hire only top talent, develop future leaders and retain high performers then execute on those plans


Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively senior Human Resources roles
  • A university degree in a related discipline (Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration) and CPHR designation are required
  • Labour law and HR legislation knowledge (Canada and US), including employment standards, privacy, OH&S
  • Able to successfully engage with teammates at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders including candidates, vendors and the greater tech community
  • Exceptional commitment to customer service with strong sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational development experience and the ability to problem solve and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with no fear of rolling up your sleeves
  • Strategic, with strong planning, detail-orientation and project management skills
  • Able to work toward a future vision or state without having all the necessary details
  • Deep integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information
  • Experience documenting processes and projects and professional level administrative skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, requiring little direction
  • Able to travel occasionally as this position may support departments across Canada
