Mogo is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join the Finance Team. We're looking for a highly driven, self-starter who is keen to learn and grow with the company. The successful candidate will have a positive ‘get-it-done’ attitude, be an excellent team player and have a strong work ethic. As we grow, the role and duties will also evolve, but here’s an overview of the immediate responsibilities!

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of routine bank covenant reporting packages including weekly and monthly reporting packages
  • Assist with cash management, as needed
  • G/L Administration

Prepare routine accounting entries, including:

  • Payroll batches
  • Month end accruals
  • Foreign exchange
  • Maintenance of capital asset schedule and related journal entries
  • Maintenance of prepaids and related journal entries

Other duties:

  • Prepare monthly internal departmental financial statements
  • Assist with the preparation with monthly, quarterly, and annual external financial statements
  • Assist with monthly variance analysis
  • Assist with annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Manage routine Canadian and International tax/information filings
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, as-needed
  • Contribute to a positive team environment

What you’ll need:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or a related discipline plus a newly or nearly completed CPA designation
  • 3-4 years of accounting experience, understanding of full cycle accounting is preferred
  • Bonus points if you've worked with Great Plains and MS Excel 
  • Passion for process improvement, you're good at identifying the problems and have the solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, nothing gets past your eye
  • Enjoy working both independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive nature with the ability to eliminate roadblocks with ease
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication
